Strategic Plan
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Paulding County Carnegie Library is to acquire, organize, maintain, and make readily available resources in a variety of formats to meet the educational, recreational, and informational needs of all citizens of Paulding County.
Strategic Planning Session
The Paulding County Carnegie Library Board of Trustees meets periodically to reevaluate the library’s direction and service responses for delivering quality library service to Paulding County citizens. Paulding County’s residents enjoy an excellent rural public library system that serves a population of 20,000 or less. The last Strategic Planning Session was held on November 21, 2017. (The population of Paulding County is estimated to be 18,855 according to 2016 U.S. Census Bureau information.)
Service Responses
In 2017, after reviewing the library’s defined Public Service Responses from the 2016 Strategic Planning Session, the Board decided to affirm but expand the focus of the library in the following five service response areas:
Create, Retain and Encourage Young Readers: Emerging, Early, and Sustaining Literacy.
Children from birth to age five will have programs and services designed to introduce them to books and the library and ensure that they will enter school ready to learn to read, write and listen. Children in elementary through high school will have programs and materials available to them to nurture and further develop a love of reading and life-long learning.
Workforce Development and Continuous Learning Center
Residents of all ages will be provided resources and programs that help them determine a career or job path for their future, enhance their job searching, and resume building and more through print, non-print, and online resources.
Connect to the Digital World: Public Internet and Digital Access
Patrons will access the digital world using high-speed connectivity, and emerging technologies. Digital content will be provided to enhance access options for educational, informational and recreational use.
Stimulate Imagination and Lifelong Learning: Reading, Viewing, Listening and Creating
Residents who want to enhance their leisure and adult learning time will find materials they need in a variety of formats. Patrons of all ages will be provided the opportunity to create and participate in hands-on learning through library resources and programs.
Discover Your Roots: Genealogy and Local History
Residents and researchers will have access to the resources they need to connect the past with the present through their family histories and to understand the history and traditions of the community.
